Presented By ADFAS Tamworth Region

Paintings & drawings of 19th Century Emigrants.

Paul Atterbury is well known for his appearances on BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow. During the reign of Queen Victoria, 11 million people left Britain to seek a new life in distant lands. Amongst the most poignant reminders of the waves of 19th century emigration are remarkable paintings and drawings documenting the experience of leaving home, to the often painful experience of coming to terms in a new world. These paintings tell extraordinary stories and offer a remarkable insight into the making of Australia.

About ADFAS

The Association of Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (ADFAS) is a group of 35 Societies that offer their members a series of monthly informative and entertaining illustrated lectures plus some workshops covering a broad range of subjects relating to art.

The talks are usually complemented by a friendly social gathering before or after with refreshments. Together, the 35 Societies form the Association of Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Societies, the central body responsible for the overall programming and lecturer schedules. Each local Society is managed by a volunteer chairman and committee who organise the presentation of the annual program of six to nine lectures.
